The Bregenzerwald region stretches from around our Wälderhus across lush meadows, dense forests and impressive peaks. The ‘Wald‘ (‘Forest’) for short is regarded as one of the most interesting areas around Lake Constance. It’s famous for the work of its craftsmen and -women that may, for instance, be admired at the ‘Werkraum Bregenzerwald’-Haus, which was designed by Peter Zumthor.
People here enjoy such leisure pursuits as hiking, alpine and cross-country skiing and golf. The Schubertiade (events to celebrate the music of Franz Schubert), Angelika Kauffmann, the Hüttisau Women’s Museum and the ‘Viehscheid’ (return of livestock from alpine summer pastures) will be names and terms that are familiar to culture fans. The high art of culinary indulgence may be enjoyed at 10 top restaurants located in the surrounding region. You’ll find two of these in Krumbach alone.
